Today, I still have a LONG way to go, but I at least my home looks tidy and I don 8767 t have boxes of stuff anymore. The six month storage rental was well worth the investment.
I realize how much of my childhood was robbed because I could never have friends over because of all the junk. I developed a lot of anger and anxiety and depression in my own life over this and other things and became resentful that my Mom would not accept help when she was well. Now that she is ill and completely unable to do anything for herself, I am the one that is largely responsible for dealing with the HUGE amount of mess, clutter, junk, garbage, mis-managed finances, lost treasures and photos, and another person 8767 s lifetime of everything. My family is all far away.
The backpack idea works for us, but sometimes, we forget to unpack it after a walk. You don 8767 t even want to know what I 8767 ve found in there over the years. But let 8767 s just say that earwigs like to travel in dark backpacks.
This makes me feel good because I 8767 ve taught my kids so many of these things even when they look at me crazy (driving a stick and changing a tire) they are glad I made them do it even through the tears 🙂
Changing tables not only take up space, but there s always the risk that a baby could fall from one. Many parents forgo them entirely and instead change their babies on a bed or the floor.
Enjoyed this. Thank you. I have bought and kept so many things that never really made the difference I was seeking! Now I am happier I do things rather than buy things. I do love to 8775 organise 8776 but realise having less is the key.
On the other hand, the act of removing possessions from our home accomplishes many of those purposes. It is not a temporary solution that must be repeated. It is an action of permanence—once an item has been removed, it is removed completely. Whether we re-sell our possessions, donate them to charity, or give them to a friend, they are immediately put to use by those who need them.
Of course you are overwhelmed! Moving after 75 years, massive de cluttering give yourself a break! Go with your gut feeling, your instincts, which are telling you to keep going on this path to rid yourself of this 8775 stuff 8776 no need to question it, it just 8775 is 8776 in my opinion it 8767 s the right time :)
That doesn 8767 t mean that what you have won 8767 t be wanted though, so it 8767 s worth listing things anyway. Things like spare coat hangers, old bubble wrap, moving boxes and crates of old jam jars all shift surprising well.
You may need one of these if you have a baby in the dead of winter in Minnesota, but for most parents this is an unnecessary expense.
